I'm not a baby anymore

Simple as that.

I’ve got opinions. I’ve got plans. I’ve got places to be and things to sniff.

They say I don’t listen, that I pull on the leash and ignore recall. But come on—I’m not a baby anymore! I’m not gonna just drop everything because someone yelled my name. I do come… just not right away.

Guess what I did yesterday?

I caught a fish.

I jumped into a pond, grabbed a fish with my teeth, and brought it home. Who’s the good dog now?

Sure, I still love cuddles. But don’t expect me to drop everything and come running just because you called. I’m seven months old and I’ve got important grown-up dog stuff to do!

Teenage dogs—usually between 8 months and 1.5 years (sometimes longer)—are known for their “disobedience.” It’s a stage full of impulsivity, impatience, testing limits, and independent exploration. Sound familiar? Yeah, it’s a lot like human teenagers.

If your dog’s going through this phase, take a deep breath. It will pass. And the more your relationship is based on trust and cooperation—not control—the smoother the ride.
